+ Is there any way how to get the game finished? A motivation sponshorship or so?

[Predseda, 2012-11-12 00:24:54] Reply

+ Well, technically it's perfect in all aspects.
However you also might take several other aspects under consideration.
In 90s we were young and had time for everything. Not we're close to our 40s and we don't have so much time and so much patience, still wanting to play with our Amiga computers.
Unlimited number of lives (even in a version for old farts) would be better. Also - starting next live in a place we lost the previous one - would be desired.
At the moment I played the game for 3 minutes, enjoyed the gfx and appreciated the music. Then I got furious and turn the Amiga off. Hm.

[jasio, 2012-08-29 06:14:04] Reply

+ It is a difficult game, nevertheless somebody completed it within the first month :/

Some people elsewhere already complained about the unlimited continues, so unlimited lives would be a bit much! Seriously thinking of introducing "Easy Mode" from the menu, though.

Otherwise I'm glad you enjoyed the graphics and music :)

[Amy, 2012-09-03 10:17:37] Reply

+ Cheers Amy. Thanks for this wonderful Game. I`m STILL working on a longplay of this one (for YouTube,ya know)...since forever and one. :/ It`s far too difficult. Or, well, is it just me!? anyways, keep up the good work. I hope there`ll be a "final" Mr.Beanbag someday. greets from Germany.

+ the game is not aga, it runs without any aga chip activated. where can the full version be buyed?

[hansi, 2012-02-06 17:01:01] Reply

+ umm well unless the Original Chipset could "secretly" display 8 bitplanes and 32 pixel wide sprites, yes it is AGA only. Maybe it runs on an A500 (I never tried), but the graphics would be a bit screwed up.

What are you running it on? Maybe an emulator automatically detects and switches. I can assure you I am using features that are, at least, documented only for AGA.

[amy, 2012-02-07 13:21:00] Reply

+ thanks for your answer, is there a way to purchase this game or is it freeware anyway?

[Dennis, 2012-02-08 10:36:59] Reply

+ currently it is free because it is not quite finished. When it is finished I will look into selling a boxed version, if there is enough interest, possibly with a level editor... but the full version of the game will still be available to download from the site. I didn't write this to make money really.

[Amy, 2012-01-29 07:05:01] Reply

+ OK, well I find the game to be hard to play... but I LOVE it. Good graphics and sounds, very much feels like a commercial offering... my ONLY complaint is I have to disable all caches on my '060 to run it... but I am very happy with the game

[Marc Frick, 2012-01-26 23:22:01] Reply

+ are you running FBlit? Apparently that crashes Beanbag. It runs fine on my own '060 so it's not the CPU.

+ AGA? This game should be OS4 native! Supporting ancient 1990s Amiga tech is an insult to true Amiga users. OS4 is Amiga today, not AGA crap. This project should be boycotted until an OS4 native version is produced.

[charles sebastian, 2012-01-25 11:29:34] Reply

+ Awesome game! If only it centered screen on main character and displayed an highscore table, it'd be perfect! :)
Just release it on a physical disk with a big nice box and I'll pay an high price for it!

[Andrea, 0000-00-00 00:00:00] Reply

+ I had originally planned a high score table, but didn't bother to implement it. I never imagined anyone would care. The scores are essentially a joke anyway (especially the Random Bonus) but a few people have brought the subject up so I might put one in after all.

I will definitely fix the scrolling though, as a top priority.

[Amy, 2012-01-07 07:13:17] Reply

+ The game is free for dowload , but is so great so I could buy it , but we should donate.. this is better than Sonic.

I'm on the final Boss now , the BUG/Error is if you die on the boss and have more life , you must start from the begin of the level , you must use the ESC on the keyboard.

[Per-Ola Eriksson, 0000-00-00 00:00:00] Reply

+ We are aware of this error, the final boss is one of the few things left to finish. Even if you could stay alive you would find that it is invincible. We honestly didn't expect anyone to get so far so quickly!

+ Hi amy and spacefish.
Thx for this beautyful game and for your response on my hompage www.amiga68k.de

The cover i have made for Mr. Beanbag is the size of an individual computer box and thus serves as a slipcase.

I also have the matching disc labels made available for download.
Have fun and feedback or criticism are highly desirable.

+ Hey there. Wow, I'm extremely impressed with the quality of this game, it feels very polished and is lots of fun to play. It's great to see some people still making quality games for my Amiga, I never gave up hope, I'm glad others haven't either.

I found out about the game through Retro Gamer magazine, and searched for it straight away. I enjoyed the demo a lot, and love the look of the screenshots. How many people are or have been working on this game? And when it is released, will it be a commercial release, licenceware, shareware or public domain? I for one would gladly pay for a new Amiga game of such quality. Also, I was wondering if you had considered a CD version of the game, perhaps something to work on after the disk version has been released, since it runs on any 2MB AGA Amiga, a CD32 version would be great, as a lot of Amiga users are now playing their CD32s more than the desktops because of the convenience and the fact that there are many Amiga game compilations coming out for the CD32. A little animated intro and perhaps a CD quality remix of each of the ingame tunes on the CD would be nice, and perhaps support for the CD32 control pad, maybe using the shoulder buttons to look to the left and right (as up and down are already supported). This could also be a feature for the A1200/4000 version of you wanted, since a lot of A1200/4000 owners also have CD32 pads.

I'm sorry for rambling, I'm just very excited about this game, and think it deserves a lot more attention. Let me know if you need any help with anything, I'm not bad at drawing/touching up sprites and background blocks, I've made a couple of Backbone/SEUCK games myself, and have some great ideas for games.

Thanks for a great game, I can't wait to play the full version!

Hi, I've spoken to Paul @ Alten8 and he's put me onto you. Firstly, I'm the editor of RETRO:BYTES Magazine (www.retro-bytes.co.uk) and we're hoping to launch very soon. Until then, the designer and I will work on RETRO:BYTES Lite; this will give people a taster of the bigger mag. 'Lite' will be out soon, and we want to write up a small preview of Mr Beanbag, so please get in touch with me regarding its current state - my email address is shaun@retro-bytes.co.uk

Also, would it be possible if we have a demo of the game for our download area please? This will be available as soon as the full web site is finished.

Many thanks!

+ Yep, I've got a platform game coming out through Cronosoft soon, called Diamond Kingdoms. Don't know when it's coming out yet though. It's nowhere near as polished as your game though! I've uploaded a demo version to Aminet that should appear in the next 24 hours or so (hope you don't mind the plug :-)
I'm currently programming a shoot-em-up.

[Graham, 0000-00-00 00:00:00] Reply

+ Hi Graham, so you make Amiga games too? We'd be interested to know about that!

You're not the first person to mention the scrolling. It's supposed to allow you to see where you're going on your way up as well as down, but I'll look into ways to improve on that.

[Tricky, 0000-00-00 00:00:00] Reply

+ Good to see someone is having a go at producing new Amiga games. Glad I'm not on my own! This has potential, very slickly presented like Amiga games of old, however could you please sort out the scrolling when you jump? It's really annoying because it follows you and you have no idea what you will land on. Other than that though, I look forward to seeing the finished version. Good luck!

+ Very nice game, I have played the demo and I think it will be very addictive ;). The scroll it's a bit too fast for me. Amiga is perfect for games like this one. Greets!
